Comfort Dental Amphitheater Sucks

I went to see Chicago and The Doobie Brothers last night at Comfort Dental Amphitheater and let me just say this....that place sucks now.  The show was great, but as far as a venue, what a shithole.

I've been to shows here before, but this was back when it was Fiddler's Green.  A much better name and I definitely had a good time; but something happened when Comfort Dental purchased the naming rights for this season.  Just turned into a 3rd rate operation.

First off, the beers are $9.50 each.  What a rip off considering I only paid $10 for my ticket.  So its impossible to get drunk for cheap.  There is no tailgating or pre-partying to be had.  (Unless you go to C.B. Potts nearby for Big Horn beers, but even that is pretty overpriced, but its the only bar in walking distance)

And even though there is free parking almost everywhere, they still try to trick you into 'event' parking for $10

Once you finally get in, its an alright setup, but I honestly think the lawn seats are better than anything in the 200 section.  During the course of the show, there were various 'technical difficulties.'  The screens on either side of the stage only worked about 50% of the time.  The sound was ok, but due to a city ordinance, they have to shut down the show by 10:30.  (Does anybody even live anywhere near here?)

During the encore, all the band members from the Doobies and Chicago were on stage together.  They tried to have a huge American flag drop down behind them during one of the songs, and of course it got stuck.  They had to lower the whole background to fix it and it took the entire song. Not the effect they were going for.  Just embarrassing.

Somehow they book huge bands there all the time, it blows my mind.  I know it is the largest outdoor venue in Colorado, but c'mon guys....clean it up.  Not impressed with the venue one bit.

  1. I could not agree more. I am always disappointed when a band I want to see is coming to Fiddler's (because I refuse to call it by it's current, ridiculous, name) instead of Red Rocks. The venue is poorly managed and in a terrible location. Another problem is that the back of the stage faces the west and there is nothing that blocks the fireball of a sun as it is setting. When you are at a show, you find yourself squinting into the sun for 3 hours when you're trying to see what is happening on stage. Who's terrible idea was that?

  2. completely agree as well, it is absolutely horrible. 9 dollar beers are absolutely ridiculous and I will never go back as long as it has that name and certainly will never go to an actual comfort dental dentist just on principle. it sucks.
