Coming Up This Weekend: The Cubs are in Town

ESPN  The Colorado Rockies finally ended their longest skid in two years with an impressive offensive display. The team knows it's going to need several more of those to get back in the thick of the playoff race.

The Rockies look to win back-to-back games for the first time in three weeks when they open a home series against the Chicago Cubs on Friday night.

After being outscored 43-17 during an eight-game slide, the franchise's longest since June 22-30, 2008, Colorado (52-50) pounded out 15 hits to defeat Pittsburgh 9-3 on Thursday. It was an encouraging performance for a Rockies team that plated two runs or fewer six times during its longing streak.

"This has never been a team to give up," second baseman Clint Barmes said. "We feel we can win every day."

Colorado's going to need to start winning with more regularity to make a playoff run.

First off, I want to start with this.  I absolutely HATE the Cubs.  I hate them.  I want them to lose every game ever.  I hope they never win a World Series.  This is to all those assholes who live in Naperville and claim to be a Cubs fan but would never drive to a game because 'traffic is bad' or 'its too far away'.  You aren't a fan.  You don't care.  Leave the baseball to the people that actually care.  Keep your Cubs hats at home, you are only wearing them to be trendy.  I hate you.

Check this out, I was at Lodo's last Sunday to watch the Cardinals/Cubs Sunday night game and on 2 separate occasions, Cubs fans came up to us (Lisa was wearing a Cardinals shirt, and I had a Brewers hat on) and tried to talk to us about baseball.  The first girl said she was a huge cubs fan, but didn't even glance at the TV once the game started, and wandered out of the bar in the first inning.  And the second guy said he was a cubs fan but didn't even know the game was on, and only said something once we pointed it out to him.  THIS is what I'm talking about.  All you 'fake' cub fans can go to hell.  Your team will never be good and your fans are annoying.

Anyway, this is a huge series for the Rox.  We really need to take this series and get back on the right track.  Not much else needs to be said.  It seemed we got our bats back yesterday and I just hope we can keep that rolling.

So if you are around town all weekend and you are wondering why there are a bunch of assholes with Cubs jerseys on who are singing 'Go Cubs Go,' just ask them who the starting pitchers are today.  Or what the score was yesterday....or any simple question that any real baseball fan will be able to answer.  It will amaze you that they have no clue.  But they will all guarantee you that this is the Cubs year.  BAHAHAHA.

Go Rockies!

Opening Pitch from Coors Field at 7:10      Francis (3-3) vs Dempster (8-7)
