This Weekend: Great American Beer Fest

http://www.greatamericanbeerfestival.com/

What

The 29th edition of the Great American Beer Festival (GABF). The premier U.S. beer festival is expected to serve more than 2,200 different beers, in 1-ounce tasting portions, from an estimated 462 U.S. breweries to the event’s 49,000-plus attendees.

This weekend is the mother of all beerfests at the Downtown Convention Center.  If you are going, I suggest you don't drink beforehand and wear a pretzel necklace.  2 mistakes I made last year.  I was drunk going into the place and after about 10 or so 1oz beers, I was 3 sheets to the wind.  Waste of $50.

So if you are going to go, make it a point to sample some good beers you can't normally get. Or do what I did two years ago, and drink whatever had the funniest name or the shortest line.

The website has a list of breweries, target a region.  My recommendation is New Glarus or Capital Brewery from Wisconsin.  Those were my favorite when I was in college.   Whatever you do, don't show up borderline blacked out after prepartying and not remember any of the good beers that you tried.  And the security frowns upon that anyway.

Yay beer!
