The explosion happened at about 6:30 p.m. inside an unmanned substation at 14th Ave. and Jackson St., just a block away from National Jewish Hospital.
Witnesses said they heard two, possibly three explosions, and felt the ground shake. It happened near the end of the hottest day of the year so far. The temperature reached 94 degrees, four degrees short of the record for the date.
Well that was nuts. Were you downtown last night? It looked like the Smoke Monster from LOST was on the loose in Denver. I just hope all those people from the ICU were ok after most of the area's power went out. Tons of people were in serious danger and my buddy says "How am I going to cook my frozen pizza now? Looks like PB&J it is"
pbj was delicious by the way.
