KDVR JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. - The miniature train at Tiny Town, a popular children's theme park in Jefferson County, derailed Wednesday morning injuring 21 people, authorities said.
The accident happened at about 10:40 a.m. as the train was rounding a turn.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mark Techmeyer said 16 patients, both adults and children, were transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from bumps and bruises to broken bones.
None of the injuries were life-threatening.
Well I just don't know what to say about this. You had to see this coming right? I mean, if you put a bunch of kids on a little train, they are probably going to be bouncing all over the place. It was just a matter of time before this thing rounded a turn and tipped over. Glad everybody is ok, but I'm absolutely not surprised.
I remember growing up in Milwaukee I used to always ride the train at the Zoo. I LOVED it. Tons of kids on that thing. I remember the line took forever. Funny thing is, there weren't any doors or seat belts or anything to keep you in. You could literally jump out wherever and whenever you wanted and nobody would be able to stop you or ensure your safety. Makes me wonder how I survived all these years. Maybe I'm just smarter than the Tiny Town kids.
